East Carolina Pirates football: Third-Place Finishes at Elon Opener

ELON, N.C. – The East Carolina Pirates football country program took part in its first competition under the guidance coach Billy Caldwell at the Elon Opener on Friday. The Pirates had two third-place finishes at the event.

The ECU women were led throughout the night by Lindsay Yentz who took eighth in the event, covering the course of 4K in 14:12.8. Yentz was followed closely by Alyssa Zack, who was 10th in the race only four seconds behind. Hayley whooley (13th), Jenna Strange (18th) and Allysa Combs (19th) completed the lineup. Emily Baba (30th) rounded out the team of the Pirates.

The freshman Elliott Kleckner led the way for the men’s team with finishing fourth in his first race at collegiate level and completed the distance in 18:17.9. Austin Mathews (12th), Ted Sielatycki (16th), Conner O’Shea (19th) and Chase Osborne (20th) joined Kleckner in the top 20 of the race to complete the score on behalf of the Pirates. Colin McCauley (21st), Ethan Corrigan (26th) and Cooper Kleckner (37th) rounded out the ECU team for the meet.
